Xian Louguantai Temple, located about 70 km west of Xian, is the place where tradition says that Lao Tze composed the Tao Te Ching. The Louguantai Temple is one of the most revered places of Taoists which was built 2600 years ago.

Louguantai Taoist Temple
Louguantai Taoism refers to the Longmen School ("Dragon Gate"). "Louguantai" is translated from the Chinese language as "Monastery of the watchtower platform". In this case, it refers to the ancient frontier outpost, from where the Great Silk Road began. The temple is noted for Louguantai Stage, where Lao Tzu, the founder of Taoism, wrote his masterpiece, The Classics of Morality, and gave lectures on Taoism. Also, Lao Tzu died and was buried in the area. In late dynasties, to commemorate this great sage, emperors built memorial temples, halls and pavilions in this sacred place. One can still find the stage and the tomb of Lao-Tzu and some remaining Taoist temples.

God of Wealth Temple
The God of Wealth Temple is located on the east bank of Tianyu River in the hometown of Zhao Gongming, who was believed to be the orthodox god of wealth known as Cai Shen. The layout of the God of Wealth Temple was based on the symbolic meaning building with supplementary flanking halls and small temples in accordance with the traditional Taoism deity system, to from a comprehensive display area of the folk concepts of happiness and luck.

Louguantai National Forest Park
The park is famous for its natural scenery, such as beautiful bamboo forests, waterfalls, springs, rocks and cliffs.

How to get to Louguantai Taoist Temple
Take Huan Shan Tourist Bus No. 1 from the North Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda to the temple directly (2.5 hours). It runs during 07:00 to 14:00 and returns during 12:00 to 17:00 (18:00 in summer).
