Features of Mutianyu Great Wall
The Mutianyu Great Wall is a unique section of the Great Wall, constructed primarily of granite. It is 7 to 8 meters tall and 4 to 5 meters wide, with crenellations on both sides. The wall stretches for over 2.2 kilometers and has 22 watchtowers spaced about every 100 meters. This distinct form and structure reflects its military significance. The Zhengguantai Gate features three connected watchtowers, with the central tower rising above the others. Other unique features include the “Tail Wall,” which extends perpendicularly from the wall along a ridgeline for improved defense.

Magnificent Scenery
Mutianyu is truly the epitome of the Great Wall. Its strategically important location and compact layout are matched only by its breathtaking scenery. Over 96% of the scenic area is covered in woods, and the wall presents different aspects of beauty in the four seasons. In spring, flowers bloom all over the mountains. In summer, the hillsides are dressed in green. In autumn, the trees are laden with sweet fruits, and the leaves turn red and yellow, touching the mountaintops with gold. In winter, the wall is covered in snow, making it seem even more magnificent.
