What to expect at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, one of the landmark buildings in Guangzhou, is an example of the perfect combination of traditional Chinese architecture with western structural architecture. The main body of the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is an octagonal building made of steel frame with reinforced concrete framework measuring 52 meters tall and occupying an area of 12,000 m2.

In all four directions of the roof with sapphire blue glaze tiles sits a saddle rooftop with an octagonal pointed roof. The construction space spans as wide as 71 meters in the absence of a single pillar, thanks to the designer's ingenious application of the architectural mechanics and structural combination of steel framework and ferroconcrete. Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is indeed a magnificent and outstanding construction in the history of architecture.

Ever since Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall was selected as a cultural relic under state protection in 2001, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall has become an important place for tourism as well as for conventions and large performances. In 2002, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall passed the ISO 9001/14001 international quality and environment management system certification and was awarded as a national four-star tourist attraction spot.
