Introducing Luoyang Museum
Luoyang Museum is a historical museum located in Luoyang, Henan Province. Luoyang Museum is situated in the Yellow River valley and offers exhibits of the rich cultural heritage of Luoyang, a major Chinese cultural center, which was the capital of several Chinese dynasties including the Eastern Zhou and the Eastern Han. Originally established in 1958, the Luoyang Museum was relocated near Wangcheng Park in 1973 and opened its doors to the public on May 1, 1974. The architecture of the museum is inspired by the ancient Tang Dynasty style. It is home to over 400,000 cultural relics, with more than 11,000 pieces exhibited for public viewing.
The collection at the museum comprises antiquities from various palaces and temples, encapsulating the historical essence of Luoyang. It represents the elements of the ancient city, known as the city of nine capitals, spanning from the Neolithic era up to 937 AD. The exhibits are organized to illustrate the progression of social structure, starting from primitive society and moving through periods of slavery and feudalism. Every year, the museum hosts exhibitions featuring carved stone, pottery figurines from the Han and Tang Dynasties, cultural relics from ancient Chinese palaces, calligraphy, paintings, and other items. The exhibits include a wide range of materials such as bronze, pottery, porcelain, gold, silver, jade, and stone wares.
