What to Expect at Manting Park
Whether you seek spiritual reflection amidst serene temples, a leisurely stroll through nature’s embrace, or a deeper understanding of local heritage, Manting Park offers an unforgettable escape into tranquility and beauty.

Ancient Kassod Tree Forest
The Kassod Tree is a hardy species in Xishuangbanna with an ethnic folklore. According to the tale, a local chieftain, known for his misdeeds, was said to have transformed into a Kassod Tree after death as a form of atonement. This story contributed to its local nickname, “the black-hearted tree.”

Kassod Trees are notable for their resilience, often sprouting new shoots even after being cut down. In Manting Park, visitors can witness an impressive collection of these trees. The park boasts over 500 mature Kassod Trees, many of which are over 300 years old, creating a striking visual display.

Dai King’s Palace
The façade of Dai King’s Palace in Manting Park is a stunning example of traditional Dai craftsmanship, showcasing intricate carvings and motifs. Dominated by red and gold, the palace features elaborate floral and geometric patterns meticulously carved into the wooden structure. A grand arched doorway, framed by gilded columns, serves as the main entrance, hinting at the regal splendor within. Inside, a sea of gold decorations surrounds a red carpet that extends across the floor, completing the vision of majestic opulence.

Xishuangbanna Grand Temple
The Xishuangbanna Grand Temple, located in the north-west corner of the park, spans an area of 3,000 square meters (0.74 acres) and features a complex that includes Buddha halls, pagodas, pavilions, and living quarters for monks. With its rich history, the temple has served as a sacred site for the highest rulers of Xishuangbanna, known as Zhao Pian Ling, as well as local chieftains who came to worship. Today, it remains a revered location for Buddhist devotees and continues to attract a steady stream of tourists eager to explore its spiritual and historical significance.
