For those craving fresh air, spending a few days in Huitengxile Grassland is an excellent choice. This beautiful area remains relatively untouched by tourism. The air is filled with the pastoral songs of herders and the sweet melodies of birds, all complemented by the delightful fragrance of wildflowers.

The “99 Pools”
The natural pools on the Huaitengxile Grassland, known as the “99 Pools,” are scattered like stars across the landscape. In summer, these round pools, or “haizi,” as they are called by the locals, reflect the sky like mirrors and are surrounded by clusters of wildflowers. This area is part of a prehistoric volcanic belt, where eruptions formed numerous craters that have since filled with rainwater, resulting in these circular water surfaces.

Huanghuagou Scenic Area
At the western end of the Huitengxile Grassland lies the Huanghuagou Scenic Area, a winding valley formed by ancient glaciers and geological movements. Stretching over 10 kilometers (6.21 miles) and reaching a depth of about 300 meters (984 feet), it features towering cliffs, steep ridges, and an array of oddly shaped stones. Resilient green trees and grass thrive among the rocks. As the valley opens up, the view extends beyond to a patchwork of fields planted with blue-flowered hemp, yellow rapeseed, and lush green crops, attracting many visitors.

Huitengxile Wind Farm
The Huitengxile Wind Farm, the largest wind power plant in Asia, is a natural wind corridor with abundant resources. With an average annual wind speed of 7.2 meters per second at 10 meters and 8.8 meters per second at 40 meters, it boasts a wind power density of 662 watts per square meter. Towering turbines harness this energy to generate clean electricity, while expansive green fields and vibrant wildflowers create a picturesque backdrop. This wind farm enhances the beauty of the grassland ecosystem and invites visitors to appreciate its role in promoting a greener future.
