Wulong Karst Geological Park

Introducing Wulong Karst Geological Park
South China Karst is one of the world’s most spectacular examples of humid tropical to subtropical karst landscapes. It is a serial site spread over the provinces of Guizhou, Guangxi, Yunnan and Chongqing and covers 176,228 hectares. It contains the most significant types of karst landforms, including tower karst, pinnacle karst and cone karst formations, along with other spectacular characteristics such as natural bridges, gorges and large cave systems. The stone forests of Shilin are considered superlative natural phenomena and a world reference. The cone and tower karsts of Libo, also considered the world reference site for these types of karst, form a distinctive and beautiful landscape. What to expect at Wulong Karst Geological Park

Wulong Karst Geological Park includes spectacular karst features and landscapes, which are both exceptional phenomena, and of outstanding aesthetic quality. Wulong Karst Geological Park includes superlative natural phenomena and the giant collapse depressions, called Tiankeng, and exceptionally high natural bridges between them, with long stretches of deep unroofed caves.

Furong Caves
The Furong Cave, part of the Wulong Karst National Park, is amongst the most beautiful caves in the world. Discovered in May 1993, Furong Cave is located where the Furong and Wu rivers meet and is almost 3 kilometers long. You will see beautiful stalactites and stalagmites lit up in all kinds of colors around you, some reaching more as 15 meters including a stone waterfall. It is a scientific cavern museum and the only nominated site for World Natural Heritage in China so far.

The Three Natural Bridges
The Three Natural Bridges are together with Furong Cave the two most visited sites of the Wulong Karst National Park. It is a 1200-meter-long gorge with, as the name says, three bridges shaped by nature over millions of years. Underground rivers eroded the softer stone away and parts collapsed forming deep pits. Other parts were uplifted by tectonic movement. Nature sculptured these three bridges which are all named after dragons, namely Tianlong Bridge (Sky Dragon Dridge), Qinglong Bridge (Azure Dragon Bridge) and Heilong Bridge (Black Dragon Bridge). The movie Transformers 4 was partly filmed here.
