Visit Xitang Water Town
Xitang is an ancient scenic town with its history dating back to at least the Spring and Autumn Period 2000 years ago. This water town is crisscrossed by nine rivers weaving through it, with lots of elegant bridges, providing plenty of opportunities for you to get those perfect shots for your China photo album. The town stretches across eight sections, linked by old-fashioned stone bridges and its shady covered pathways are a unique architectural feature that make it stand out from the other water towns. In the older parts of town, the buildings are set along the banks of the canals, which serve as the main transportation thoroughfares in the area. Xitang also contains numerous antique residences and temples, such as the Temple of the Seven Masters. Xitang is frequently depicted in Chinese landscape painting for its tranquil ambiance and scenic beauty. The picturesque water town of Xitang was one of the shooting locations for Mission Impossible III, so expect to see photos of Tom Cruise dotted about the place. Although quieter and less commercial than some of the other water towns Xitang can get very busy on weekends.

This trip was incredible. Our stop, Xitang, really came to life at night. We had the opportunity to try a ton of local food and it was all incredible. Our tour guide was extremely informative and clearly very passionate about what she does. We had a great time with her and had some good laughs and learned a lot about chinese culture as a whole. The tour started and ended exactly on time and the timing of the spots was very well thought out. This is a must for anyone who wants to get a taste of what real, old world china is like.
