Drum Mountain
Drum Mountain is located 8 kilometers away from east of Fuzhou, stretching over 1,890 hectares. Its highest peak is 919 meters above sea level. According to legend, there sits at the mountaintop a huge stone flat as a drum that produces drum-beating sound whenever it rains. Hence it is named Drum Mountain. Of all the beautiful spots and historical sites in the mountain, nearly a hundred are domestically well-known. Yongquan Temple (Spring-gushing Temple) at the half way up the mountain, for example, is listed at the top of the five major temples in Fujian. The temple was built in A.D. 908, with its name deriving from a spring gushing out of the ground.

Luoxing Pagoda
Luoxing Pagoda is located on Luoxing Mountain at the confluence of the Minjiang and Wulong rivers near Mawei Port. This pagoda has been long considered as one of the landmarks of China for sailors all over the world. It is said that when foreign sailors and merchants saw the pagoda, they would exclaim China Pagoda in ancient times. First built in the Northern Song Dynasty, Luoxing Pagoda was destroyed in an earthquake and rebuilt between 1621 and 1627 in the Ming Dynasty. With seven storeys, this octagonal stone pagoda is 31.5 meters high. Luoxing Pagoda is said to be built by Liu Qiniang, a pretty lady from Guangdong province, in memory of her husband who suffered unfair treatment and died in Fuzhou. A statue of Liu Qiniang stands in front of the pagoda today to remember such a romance.

Xichan Temple
Xichan Temple is an ancient temple which can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907). It is located in the west of Fuzhou City, at the foot of the Yi Mountain. It is one of five Buddhist temples in Fuzhou. Inside the temple are several ancient relics, including imperial handwriting by Emperor Kangxi, murals, a dagoba depicting a Buddhist Monk from the Five Dynasties and others. There are two jade statues of Buddha brought from Myanmar in the Jade Buddha Hall. The seated Buddha is 2.95 meters tall. The litchi trees planted in the Song Dynasty (960-1279) are another feature.

West Lake Park
West Lake Park dates back to 1,700 years ago in the Jin Dynasty and remained a major attraction since late Tang (618-907) period. The royal family of Min (meaning Fujian) State claimed West Lake Park as an imperial garden later in the Five Dynasties time around 1,000 years ago.  In 1914, it was officially opened to the public as West Lake Park. Today it’s the only place in town to admire those standard features of classical Chinese gardens with constructed landscapes. This style mimics natural scenery of rocks, hills and rivers with strategically located pavilions and pagodas.

Lin Zexu Memorial Hall
Lin Zexu Memorial Hall was founded in 1982 in memory of the national hero Lin Zexu of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The site of the memorial used to be the memorial temple of Lin Zexu built in 1905. In China Lin Zexu is popularly viewed as a national hero for stopping the Opium Trade in 1939 and confiscated and destroyed more than1000 kilograms of opium. Inside the Mormorial, his work as a government official, including the opium trade and other work where he improved agricultural methods, championed water conservation (including his work to save Fuzhou's West Lake from becoming a rice field) and his campaign against corruption are well documented.

Three Lanes Seven Alleys
Named Sanfang Qixiang in Chinese, Three Lanes Seven Alleys are a historic and cultural area in the city of Fuzhou. Covering a total area of 38 hectares, it is celebrated as an architectural museum of Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings, including numerous National Designated Monuments like the historic residences of Yan Fu, Lin Congyi, Bing Xin and Lin Juemin. Because of its more than 400 rich, famous and powerful residents, this port city was known as 'Beverly Hills' of imperial China. Thanks to its fame as a living fossil of traditional Chinese urban dwelling that date back to as early as Tang Dynasty, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2013.
