With its spectacular palaces, historic temples, beautiful gardens, Beijing has a lot to offer to international travelers. This Classic Beijing Private Day Trip will take you to visit the Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Jingshan Park, Temple of Heaven & Summer Palace. As the world’s largest public square, Tiananmen Square needs to be seen in person to be believed. No visit to Beijing would be complete without a walk through the square, whose historical legacy includes Mao Zedong’s announcement of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on October 1, 1949. At the center of Beijing sits the most enduring icon of Beijing: the Forbidden City. Home to 24 Ming & Qing Dynasty emperors, this is the world’s largest palace complex. The Jingshan hill behind the Forbidden City affords excellent views of the Forbidden City and surrounding neighborhoods of Beijing. Southeast of the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven remains one of the most important examples of Chinese religious architecture. For centuries, this is where emperors made sacrifices to the gods in hopes of achieving a fruitful harvest. For a glimpse at how the imperial family once spent their leisure time, visit the Summer Palace, commissioned by Emperor Qianlong in 1750 with hillside temples and pagodas, arched stone bridges on Kunming Lake. No shopping stops, no factory visits, no hidden costs, traveling with GoGrandChina knowledgeable and professional guide and free use of GoGlobalis multilingual audio guide during sightseeing, you are sure to get the most out of this Classic Beijing day trip.

Know Before You Go
Tiananmen Square could be temporarily closed for visit due to unpredictable government activities. In this case, your guide may need to adjust the itinerary accordingly.

As the royal residences of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties from the 15th to 20th century, the Forbidden City used to be the center of State power in late feudal China. It was constructed between 1406 and 1420 by the Ming emperor Zhu Di and witnessed the enthronement of 14 Ming and 10 Qing emperors over the following 505 years. There are over a million rare and valuable works of art in the permanent collection of the Forbidden City including paintings, ceramics, seals, steles, sculptures, inscribed wares, bronze wares, enamel objects, etc. The Forbidden City was declared a World Heritage Site in 1987 and is listed by UNESCO as the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world.

Visit Jingshan Park
Jingshan is a small hill located behind the Forbidden City, which once served as the emperor's imperial garden. Standing at the height of 51 meters in the middle of Beijing's north-south axis and facing the Forbidden City, Jingshan offers a full view of Beijing, including the Drum and Bell Tower and the white pagoda of Beihai park. You will also have a chance to see local people's daily life such as practicing Taichi, singing and dancing in the park.

Considered to be the supreme achievement of traditional Chinese architecture, its layout symbolizes the belief that heaven is round and earth square. The Temple of Heaven was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998 and was described as a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design which simply and graphically illustrates a cosmogony of great importance for the evolution of the Chinese civilizations.
