Visit Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum
Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum is situated at the foot of the second peak of Purple Mountain to the east of Nanjing. Nanjing was where Sun Yat-Sen, first proclaimed the Republic of China in 1911 and where the government had moved from Beijing in the late 1920's. Considered to be the "Father of Modern China", Sun Yat-sen fought against the imperial Qing government and after the 1911 revolution ended the monarchy, and founded the Republic of China. The mausoleum's layout is very similar to the tombs of Chinese emperors and has interesting contrasts and similarities with Xiaoling Tomb of Ming Dynasty, which is found about a half mile to the west on the same side of Purple Mountain.
Visit Meiling Palace
The Meiling Palace was once the home of China’s former president Chiang Kai-shek and his wife Soong Mayling before they fled to Taiwan in 1949 at the end of the Chinese civil war. Meiling Palace was built in 1934 as a birthday gift by Chiang for his wife Soong Mayling who was named by Life magazine in 1937 as 'the most powerful woman in the world'). Once considered the No. 1 Mansion in the Far East, this beautiful villa combines classical Chinese architecture with modern western elements. For decades, the building was kept as a state guesthouse and closed to the public until 2013, when the villa was renovated and its doors thrown open to the public. From the air, Meiling Palace resembles a giant emerald and the landscaping around it looks like a pendant and necklace. It is now a museum showing Soong Maying’s life as a politician, a diplomat and an artist as well as stories about this grand villa.

Visit Xiaoling Mausoleum of the Ming Dynasty
The Xiaoling Mausoleum of the Ming Dynasty is located at the foot of Purple Mountain and contains the tomb of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, founder of the Ming and is one of China's biggest imperial tomb sites and a perfect example of the architectural and stone carving achievement of the Ming Dynasty. It is a UNESCO's World Heritage Sites together with the Ming Tombs in Beijing. It has an 800-meter-long Sacred Way leading to the main structure, with 12 pairs of stone animals such as elephants, lions and horses on both sides of the road and four pairs of warriors and ministers to guard the tomb. The different styles and facial expressions of these works represent the best of the stone carving art during the Ming Dynasty.
Visit Linggu Temple
Linggu Temple was first built in 515 and used to lie at the northeast foot of the Purple Mountain where the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum is located, since the Hongwu Emperor of the Ming dynasty chose the place to be his mausoleum and the temple was moved to the present place. The temple was named by the Hongwu Emperor himself. In the temple, except for Buddhas and Budhisattvas, Xuanzang and his relics were enshrined and worshipped. Among the temple's interesting features is a vaulted hall built in 1831, commonly called the "beamless hall" because, unlike most Chinese buildings, it is built entirely of masonry. Linggu pagoda is another notable structure. Built in 1928, it also commemorates the soldiers killed in the national revolution. It is a reinforced concrete and wood structure nine stories standing 60.5 metres high.
