Introducing Five Finger Mountain
Located in south China's Hainan province, Five Finger Mountain is 1,867 meters above the sea level, making it the highest mountain in Hainan. It has various plant ecological environment and 86.44 percent forest coverage rate. The mountain is the symbol of the island. The region has been listed by the International Tourism Organization in recognition of its supreme natural scenery which comprises one of the few natural rain forests surviving in the world today.

What to expect at Five Finger Mountain

Wuzhi means five fingers in Chinese and the mountain owes its name to its formation. The overall shape extends like the five digits of a hand. Tradition has it that this is the hand of Sakyamuni and that the legendary Monkey King cannot escape from its control.

There are many legends to describe this Five Finger Mountain, one of them is that the Five Finger Mountain peaks are the fossilized fingers of a dead Li clan chief. Another tale is that the five peaks are dedicated to the five most powerful Li gods. Numerous historical poems have also been written about the mountain.

The surrounding areas of Five Finger Mountain are inhabited mainly by the Li ethnic group. It is located adjacent to Wuzhishan City but is not part of that city's administrative area.

How to get to Five Finger Mountain
• Take a bus from Sanya General Bus Station or Haikou General Bus Station to Wuzhishan City. Upon arrival, take a local bus to Shuimanxiang Station. Then walk around 1 km to the scenic area. 

Additional travel advice on Five Finger Mountain
• It often rains from May to October in Wuzhishan. Please prepare an umbrella or a raincoat along with you.
• UV is strong in Hainan. Please wear sunscreen, hat and sunglasses to prevent sunburns.
