Day 2 Beijing, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Jingshan Park, Temple of Heaven & Summer Palace
After breakfast you will start to explore Beijing from the world’s largest public square, Tiananmen Square. No visit to Beijing would be complete without a walk through the square, whose historical legacy includes Mao Zedong’s announcement of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on October 1, 1949. From Tiananmen Square, you will walk to the Forbidden City. Home to 24 Ming & Qing Dynasty emperors, the Forbidden City is the world’s largest palace complex located in the center of Beijing. Then you will walk to Jingshan Park behind the Forbidden City which affords excellent views of the Forbidden City and surrounding neighborhoods of Beijing. In the afternoon you will visit the Temple of Heaven, the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties would worship the god of heaven and pray for good harvest. The Temple of Heaven remains one of the most important examples of Chinese religious architecture. Afterwords you will visit the largest and best preserved royal garden in China. Commissioned by Emperor Qianlong in 1750 with hillside temples and pagodas, arched stone bridges on Kunming Lake, the Summer Palace offers you a glimpse at how the imperial family once spent their leisure time.

Day 3 Beijing, Mutianyu Great Wall, Ming Tomb Dingling, Photo Stop at Olympic Bird Nest & Water Cube
Morning visit to Mutianyu Great Wall of China. The Great Wall is one of China's most iconic sights. Mutianyu Great Wall is the longest fully resorted section of the Great Wall measuring 2.2km with 23 watchtowers. Considered to be the most family-friendly portion of the Wall and the best part of Great Wall for photography, Mutianyun Great Wall is less crowded and has better architecture than other sections with more watchtowers. In the afternoon, you will visit Dingling Tomb, the only Ming Dynasty Emperor's Tomb been excavated. Listed in World Cultural Heritages by UNESCO, the Ming Tombs show impressive natural landscape and historical significance. On the way back to your hotel, you will see two architectural icons from the 2008 Olympic that are still standing: Bird’s Nest and Water Cube.

The 1300 year old Tang Dynasty constructed Small Wild Goose Pagoda is a perfect example of the multi-eaved square brick pagodas built in ancient China. Xian Museum boasts nearly 130,000 relics that all relate to the history of Ancient China and Xian specifically. Being the starting point of the Silk Road, the ancient trade route linking China with the Middle East and Europe, Xian is deeply influenced by Islamic culture which is best observed in the Muslim Quarter. Many thanks for such a wonderful China tour. We really enjoy it. Our 3 guides, John in Xian was the best in terms of knowledge, spoken English and overall demeanor. Followed by Jessica in Beijing and Lilly in Shanghai. They were all on time. Transport and drivers throughout the general tour were excellent. Overall we enjoyed the tours in 3 cities. We will certainly recommend this company to our friends. (Posted on 6/24/2019)
