Day 2 Xian, Terracotta Army, Emperor Qin's Mausoleum, Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Xian Museum, Great Mosque & Muslim Quarter
Morning visit to Terracotta Warriors. Considered one of the foremost archaeological discoveries of the 20th century, the 2,000-year-old Terracotta Army was discovered by accident in 1974 by local farmers digging a well. The 8,000-plus life-sized warriors are arranged in vaults to guard the Mausoleum of Qin Shihuang, the first emperor of China, a major architect of the Great Wall and unifier of China. Then you will visit the Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shihuang which was constructed over 38 years, from 246 to 208 BC, and is situated underneath a 76-meter-tall tomb mound shaped like a truncated pyramid. In the afternoon, you will visit the 1300 year old Tang Dynasty constructed Small Wild Goose Pagoda, a perfect example of the multi-eaved square brick pagodas built in ancient China. Then you will visit Xian Museum which boasts nearly 130,000 relics that all relate to the history of Ancient China and Xian specifically. Your last stop will be the Great Mosque and Muslim Quarter. Being the starting point of the Silk Road, the ancient trade route linking China with the Middle East and Europe, Xian is deeply influenced by Islamic culture which is best observed in the Muslim Quarter. Xian Muslim Quarter covers several blocks with an estimated 60,000 Muslims in the region. There are about seven ancient mosques in the area, among which the Great Mosque is the most famous and popular among all. At Xian's Muslim Quarter you will find a seemingly endless labyrinth of street food, restaurants and bustling local life.

Day 3 Xian, Daci'en Temple & Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Shaanxi History Museum, Xian City Wall, Forest of Stone Steles
Morning visit to Big Wild Goose Pagoda & Daci'en Temple. Constructed in 652 AD, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda stands at an impressive 64 meters tall and from the top it offers a great panoramic view over Xian. Daci'en Temple was built in 648 AD by Crown Prince Li Zhi who later became Emperor Gaozong in honour of his mother, Empress Wende for her kindness and grace. Then you will visit Shaanxi History Museum which houses over 370,000 items, including murals, paintings, pottery, coins, as well as bronze, gold, and silver objects. In the afternoon you will visit Xian City Wall, one of the oldest and best-preserved city walls in the world. Walking atop the Wall you can get the panorama of Xian skyline. Later, you will visit Forest of Stone Steles Museum which was originally built in 1078 on the site of former Confucian Temple for the preservation of Confucian Classics. This museum now houses 3,000 steles displaying works of calligraphy, painting and historical records. It is a splendid treasury of Chinese art and history.

Day 4 Bullet Train to Luoyang, Longmen Grottoes, White Horse Temple
Transfer to Xian railway station for an one hour & thirty minute bullet train ride to Luoyang. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Longmen Grottoes upon arrival. Longmen Grottoes are Buddhist cave complex consisting of more than 2300 caves and niches carved into the steep limestone cliffs over a 1km long stretch. These contain almost 110,000 Buddhist stone statues, more than 60 stupas and 2800 inscriptions carved on steles. Created over the course of approximately five centuries beginning in the year 493, these grottoes, along with the statues and inscriptions carved within, provide a window into the political, cultural, and artistic circumstances of the late Northern Wei and Tang Dynasties. Then you will visit White House Temple to touch a part of ancient Chinese history that is so ingrained in Chinese national identity. White Horse Temple is the first Buddhist temple in China, having been first established in 68 AD under the patronage of Emperor Ming in the Eastern Han dynasty. The temple, although small in comparison to many others in China, is considered by most believers as "the cradle of Chinese Buddhism". The main temple buildings, a large complex, were reconstructed during the Ming (1368 to 1644) and Qing (1644 to 1912) dynasties. They were refurbished in the 1950s, and again in March 1973. It has numerous halls divided by courtyards and manicured gardens, covering an area of about 13 hectares (32 acres). The display plaques in Chinese and English give ample descriptions of the Buddhist deities installed in the halls. Significant statues include Śākyamuni Buddha, Maitreya (the laughing Buddha in China), the Jade Buddha, figures of saints such as Guru Avalokiteśvara, Amitābha and arhats and stone statues of the two white horses which brought the Indian monks to China and two mythical lions at the entrance.

Meals Included: Breakfast at hotel
Hotels: 4-star Hyatt Place Luoyang or similar

Day 5 Luoyang, Shaolin Temple, Bullet Train to Xian
Morning visit to Shaolin Temple, the origin temple of Chan Buddhism and cradle of Chinese martial art Kungfu. Shaolin Temple was first built in 495 AD. It was a royal temple built to accommodate Indian Buddhist monk Master Batuo. Later it became the center of Buddhism in China, where holy monks gathered, emperors and high-ranking officials came to visit and pay homage, and poets and scholars came to admire the beauty of this scenic place. Shaolin Kungfu is one of the ways that monks of Shaolin Temple study Chan Buddhism. Being the single most outstanding representative of ancient Chinese martial arts culture, Shaolin Kungfu is very welcomed among people of many different cultures. It is a vivid legend in the history of the human being’s civilization. After visiting Shaolin Temple, you will be transferred to Luoyang train station & board bullet train back to Xian. You will be met by your driver and transferred to hotel in Xian.

This tour gave me the feeling that a very knowledgeable friend was talking to us. In the sceond day, we visited the Terracotta Warriors, Emperor Qin's Mausoleum, Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Xian Museum, Great Mosque & Muslim Quarter those places. The Terra Cotta warriors were unbelievable. Vicent had so much information for us. Daci'en Temple & Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Shaanxi History Museum, Xian City Wall, Forest of Stone Steles Museum were the sights we want to see in day 3. In the next day we went to Luoyanglongmen by bullet train to see the Longmen Grottoes. We also saw White Horse Temple, and visited the Shaolin Temple. All of these sites were amazing and our guide Vicent was an excellent guide. He is well informed, taught us so much about the area and was very concerned that we had a wonderful experience and were safe in our travels. Our driver was also excellent, very safe in driving and punctual. We must say the GoGrandChina representative in Xian where our trip began was very helpful in insuring we were clear in our trip itinerary and plan and insuring we had transportation to and from the train station. We can't say enough good things about how this tour was handled and the amazing GoGrangChina representative, our guide and driver. Thank you for an excellent tour!
